25.04 does not work with the HBA card that works under 24.10

Hi guys, I decided to upgrade my 24.10 install to the current version of 25.04 and the boot process complains about mpt2sas_cm0 doorbell handshake init errors when trying to query the card under 25 results in “mpt2sas_cm0: _config_request: failed due to ioc not operational” errors. Rolling back to 24.10 everything works as expected. The card identifies as a SAS2308 at FW version 20.

This is also with truenas running under Proxmox, with a PCI passthrough of the HBA card.

Short of looking for a newer/better HBA, any hints?

WIth a lot of reading and some AI help it ended up that in proxmox HBA passthrough I had to turn rombar off and pcie on and then it worked. Leaving this here in case someone else runs into it
