Can not access VM desktop via xrdp after timeout :( Using GNOME as desktop

I have a FreeBSD15 VM with Gnome as Desktop. The VM is using a small Nvidia video card as present in my TrueNas Scale system.

To access the VM gui I installed xrdp on the VM and are using DVLS 2025.2 Remote Desktop Manager on Windows11 64bit Pro.
(All used software on latest versions)

After starting the VM, I can access Gnome via the Remote Desktop Manager without having to login first. After some time (15 min?), I need to login to Gnome … however that does not work :grimacing:

The GUI shows the login screen as shown below

Problem is that the entered, the characters seems to ‘be eaten away’ / it looks like as if they are not handled by Gnome.

Sometimes I can work around this by login using truenas spice display, and continue after that via the Remote Desktop. Sometimes I have to restart the VM to have access again.

Does any one know what is causing this problem and how to solve it !!??
(note that I would not be surprised it spice and xrdp are conflicting !?!?)

What ever help appreciated !!
