in truenas it reported in the notifications at the top
Device: /dev/sdc [SAT], ATA error count increased from 0 to 24.
then nas went into degraded mode.
So you would think sdc is the problematic drive yes?
But when i went to smart, only sdb listed the error count 24. For sdc in smart it didn’t show that issue.
I also checked in scrutiny, it also listed 24 for sdb as the dying drive, and nothing about sdc.
so i can only conclude that the current sdc drive listed is not the problematic disk to replace.
Is this correct?
In truenas notification it doesn’t state the serial number for the sdc disk it mentioned.
But in smart when i tested both sdc and sdb i noticed the discrepancy. Also in scrutiny i can see the serial number so i can see the unique identifier.
identifying by sda, sdb, sdc, and sdd doesnt seem as reliable compared to identifying by the serial number.
So what i want to ask, is there anyway to check the notifications where it initially reported sdc as being problematic, for the serial number for that drive? how do i do that? is that even possible?
when i attempted to find out myself, all it said was sdc had a problem, that’s it. No serial number for the disk referenced at all.
