Hi everyone, I recently heard about Electric Eel and wanted to test it on my truenas scale installation. First of all I was not able to install it via the truenas updater (it tells me I had 1.5Gb free but requires a bit more) nor via the manual updater (it tells me an other error), anyway…
So I decided to do a fresh install. I downloaded TrueNAS SCALE 24.10-BETA.1 flash it and install in on my boot disks. After the installation completed I booted using UEFI on them but the boot quickly stops and says:
cannot import ‘boot-pool’ : no such pool available
So I tried messing with different versions in the nightlies build, with UEFI/legacy BIOS… but still the same error.
I then tried installing a fresh TrueNAS SCALE 24.04.2 the exact same way and it it worked perfectly!
My setup is
Asus M5A97 R2
AMD FX-8320E
16GB DDR3
Boot disks: two Samsung EVO 980 pro 250 NVME mounted in the mini PCIE of my mother board with two adapters as shown in the picture.
I really don’t know what to do.
Thanks in advance for your advice
And I also notice something strange during the installation: it does not offer me to create a swap partition on my boot drive like it usually did with other SCALE instalations.
Has anyone been asked to create a swap partition during TrueNAS SCALE 20.10 BETA installation?
Option has been removed, initial change went into dragonfish 24.04.1. Extract from
Release notes:
Fixes to address issues involving ZFS ARC cache and excessive swap usage leading to performance degradation (NAS-128988, NAS-128788).
With these changes swap is disabled by default, vm.swappiness is set to 1, and Multi-Gen LRU is disabled. Additional related development is expected in the upcoming 24.10 major version of TrueNAS SCALE.
