I’m still somewhat new to TrueNAS and have a simple SMB NAS cfg. Nothing special but this is my first update since creating my NAS. Is it safe to go from my 25.04.2.4 to 25.10 this soon after its dropped or is it advised to let it bake a lil while longer?
Well, other than 42, the answer is probably, “wait for at least .1, and maybe .2.” iX doesn’t generally recommend “general use” until the .2 release. You’re usually safe with .1 releases, but safer to wait for .2.
I haven’t made the change yet due to Halloween prep. If your system is as simple a file server you describe, then the switch likely carries relatively little risk - SMB hasn’t changed much, unlike incus and some other parts for VMs and Apps.
Lawrence systems reported that resuming replication tasks finally seems to be working, which would be super welcome. Jailmaker made stuff allegedly is still functional and apps also seem to survive the transition. So I might try it at the end of the weekend.
Have a lot of cleanup to do in the meantime.
