Please help me access my network folder with chromebook.
It works fine with Windows, so I think I have my settings correct.
On chromebook, I go to Files ==> services ==> SMB File share
From there, I tried entering several paths but keep getting an error The Specified share not found on network.
I’ve tried various paths, starting with. \\192.168.1.132\
What should I enter after the ip address?
I tried Pool-1\Movies, or just Movies, or just Pool-1, or mnt\Pool-1\Movies
None of those worked. Here is a screenshot of my shared settings in the system.
sorry it’s not letting me show a screenshot.
But I have a pool called Pool-1, and within that pool created a folder called Movies.
You said it works fine with a Windows PC - what path do you use there?
Also could you tell us, what you configured in the UI under Services → SMB?
You could also post a screenshot atter completing the forum tutorial iirc, I think that gets offered to you by a bot after joining.
When I access the folder from windows, and click in the address bare and copy path and paste into notebook it shows up as \\TRUENAS\Movies
Services –> SMB setting is Netbios name: truenas netbios alias: truenas Workgroup: Workgroup Enable SMB1 support.
Also I installed TrueNAS directly on a PC, in case that matters. (i.e. not VM)
In that case smb://TRUENAS/Movies should work on your chromebook.
Why did you try the IP?
Still no luck
I used the IP because that’s what Google told me to do =)
Seems odd that I can’t find anyone else who did this task either on Google, Youtube, or on this Forum lol.
No idea whats the problem then though… You could check the audit log in the UI or the smb log under /var/log for errors correlating with your chromebook though.
