A couple of months ago I have been testing a beta version from StarwWinds NVMe-oF initiator together with one of their senior support engineers. Problem was that at that time the released version did not work.
I got a message from them that a new version we have been testing by them has been released, which solved the problem.
For home use the version seems to be free. from the message I received
It is free for home use, yet, the free version does not have support and GUI. Speaking of the licensing, I think the best will be ask the person who sends you the key. Again, it can be a free installation.
The version supports TCP and RDMA where RDMA has of course the best performance. Note however that your network should support RDMA and ….. TrueNAS CE does as far as I know not support RDMA.
