Problem/Justification
TrueNAS Scale 24.10 cannot put at least one HGST SAS HDD into the power condition “Standby” (spindown). It would be helpful / easier if this would also work with HGST SAS HDD’s using sdparm in the background of the GUI.
Impact
With infrequent use of a pool, … the advantage of a non-spinning disk may outweigh the disadvantage.
User Story
I use a SAS HBA “LSI (Avago) 9201-16i” with IT Mode Firmware 20.00.07.00 in a TrueNAS Scale 24.10 setup and can use sdparm to set the corresponding parameters / flags of the SAS disk HGST HUS726060ALS640 Rev. A280 SPC-4 so that it goes into standby / spin-down mode after the timer has expired.
Using the corresponding TureNAS Scale 24.10 GUI settings under “Edit Disk” I am not able to achieve this. Even if the S.M.A.R.T. service is switched off and the system dataset pool has been moved to another pool or if the disk is not even used in a vdev / pool.
