General usage question

I have a 7 drive TureNAS v25.04.2.4 setup and working fine.

I have a NVMe drive on a USB sled and I’d like to plug it in and back up its contents to my NAS by connecting it to the one of the USB ports and I don’t want to alter the cfg at all, just back it up.
Is this a thing and if so … how to do it?

It’s okay everybody!
I got this.

Ahem

Seriously though, you would need to do some configuration changes to make use of a single disk ZFS pool made out of your external drive. Like importing the pool and creating a replication task, for example. If that is acceptable, it’s doable. Non-ZFS file systems are unsupported. A single disk backup is also not the most reliable thing in the world.

So simple solution is to back it up to the NAS via a windows system and network … no easy direct connect way. And I’m okay with that … I wanted to make sure that the USB ports on the system were only really usable for Temporary or Off-site Backups or initial Data Import.
Thanks for the confirmation Neofusion.
Oh and a lot of young people don’t get the reference.
