HDD I/O at 100%

Hi,

since today morning after reboot, i see the I/O is at 100%


I’ve rebooted and the first couple of minutes is fine but afterwards is going again to 100%.I’ve stopped the SMB share, no change. I’ve closed all the apps, no change.
What is interesting is that no email notification is received anymore after the reboot that I usually receive.
Not sure where to go from here.
I’m on the latest version 25.04.

Interesting, after i’ve started the apps again, the I/O went down for a bit and then went up again

yeah so i stopped a random app such as home-app and shortly the I/O went down again

Have you installed any custom app?
What app is “home-app”?

These are the only apps running


But I don’t feel this is an app problem because even with the app service completely shut down it doesn’t make a difference

Do you have a scrub running?

Ok so I checked, the scrub was scheduled for next Sunday, I am doing them on a Monthly basis so no, there was no scrubbing job or any job that might have cause the excessive read rates.

Now, what I did to fix the issue:

  1. Powered down the nas
  2. removed the affected HDD
  3. Powered on the NAS. Of course, warnings that the HDD is not there bla bla.
  4. Added the HDD again
  5. Powered on the NAS, it did some checks on the HDD etc.
