Hello,
I’ve been struggling for several days to figure out how to open the ports on my box and how to configure Plex on TrueNAS Scale.
Everything is working correctly, but before I transfer the data, I’d like your opinion on certain options in the Plex configuration.
Could you explain to me what numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 correspond to?
I noticed that the Plex data storage and Plex configuration storage must be directed to the folder where the movies are located or to the parent folder.
I’m not sure what numbers 3 and 4 are for.
Can I leave the “tmpfs” option on these two options?
My config :
PNY XLR8 CS3030 M.2 NVMe
CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 32Go
MSI Pro B650M-P
Corsair RM850e
Fractal Design Node 804
Thank you all.
Have a nice day.
Not sure what version of Truenas you are on. I’m on Fangtooth, currently and going way, way back I’ve directed all of these options to /mnt/main pool/Apps/Plex, with all of my media in /mnt/main pool/Media/ with separate datasets for Movies, TV shows and music, mounted as additional storage. The idea is that the bigly media datasets are untouched, while you can update/destroy/reinstall/experiment with Plex without touching those datasets. Also, you can replicate those datasets on their own schedule. Certainly not going to replicate transcode, so I guess 3 and 4 could be still in /tmpfs
I think if you search here you will find a lot of resources about this, which is where I got the idea. Hopefully you will get a more experienced and expert perspective. (Same idea for any other app).

Hello
Thanks, it’s really not a bad idea to separate the Plex and Multimedia folders. I’ll follow your advice.
