I have a home made nas running on trueNAS. It has 2 disks configured in mirror.
I am considering migrating my data in a new commercial grade nas (synology, QNAP etc…). I want to do so and not buy new disks as the current ones are still good. What would be the best process to do so ?
That really sounds like a question that would be better directed to the support resources for whatever “commercial grade nas” (why you list QNAP in that category is a mystery) you’re planning to use; we can’t and don’t support other NAS OSs here. But since none of them support ZFS, I don’t believe this would be possible.
By commercial grade i mean that i buy to a nas company and that i did not built with my own hands.
Would it not be possible to pull out one of the disks in my current trueNas put it in the new one wiping the data and setting whatever file system will be supported, migrate the data to the freshly installed and wipe drive and then add second drive in the new nas ?
