Migrating TrueNAS Server to a new VLAN

Hi all, wondering if you all would be able to help me. My network was starting to get a lot of devices on it (compared to the average person, but maybe not to many on this forum), and I had always wanted to institute VLANs, so I decided to pull the trigger and have spent the last few days setting up networks and reconnecting everything. I’ve got nearly all the small stuff on the right VLANs with the exception of a few things, and even figured out how to move a VM I have on TrueNAS over to a different VLAN.

Currently my server is on the default network (192.168.1.2) and I’m trying to move it over to a new VLAN (192.168.10.2). My process for this was to:

  1. Reset the static IP in Unifi to the new value
  2. Change the native VLAN on the switch to the new one (.10.2)
  3. Update the network settings of my main bridge device directly on the machine and reboot

This worked, and I was able to access the web console from devices on the new VLAN, but when I logged in and went to the Apps screen, it was broken, telling me the service could not start, that there were no preferred trains (and none to select), and it showed no installed apps. I was able to revert the changes, so harm done, but I’m left kinda scratching my head here.

Has anyone else had success moving the IP of a machine that has a couple apps running on it? Is there a step I’m missing?

It could be that your default gateway/router was unreachable from truenas. So you didn’t have an internet connection on the machine.

That absolutely was what it was. Someone else had replied to me in the official Discord a little earlier today, and as of just an hour ago, I confirmed I got everything moved over and working appropriately.

Thank you so much for replying though!
