Also check local ads. I am sure there is a local Italian market website. You can find cheaper stuff there with some patience.

Big issue now is that udimm ecc ram have CRAZY prices and few options where to buy… a lot of options instead for rdimm…

It would be much better a motherboard that accept RDIMM DDRs…moreover it would be better for ecc error correction and stability…

Should - but how many disks? Usually 650W only includes 12v, but HDD/SSD also include 3.3 & 5v. Very rare, but it can in theory be an issue.

Realistically, any reasonable 650w PSU should be enough for ~8 HDDs without doing any math.

12v 2 amps startup - 16 amps startup on 12v… more than in spec, even with 20 amps on 5v, I think you’re good with that PSU :slight_smile:

The Lexar 790NM is an NVMe SSD but the E3C246D4U2-2T you say you bought has a SATA-only M.2-slot.

Also, keep in mind that on that motherboard the M.2 slot is shared with SATA port #0, which means that using the M.2 means you can’t use more than 7 of the ordinary SATA ports. Did you get an HBA as well or are you going to do some USB-shenanigans for your boot device?

I’ve just read the manual and if you connect a pci express m.2 ssd, the sata bus stays free for the sata0 hdd.

You lose one sata hdd connection only if you connect a sata m.2 ssd device, if you use a pci express one no problem.

The Mobo DO support m.2 pci express ssd, without losing any sata port.

It supports PCIE3.0 x4 or sata for m.2

NO.
This is the usual combination of x4 PCIe lanes (from chipset) plus one SATA lane, shared with a SATA port. With a SATA M.2, one SATA port is disabled. With a NVMe M.2, one gets the full 8 SATA ports.
Just get something smaller as 2 TB just for boot is needless overkill.

I looked and looked at this yesterday and did not spot the line that so clearly says:

M.2 slot - (2230/2242/2260/2280, Supports PCIE3.0(X4)/SATA3)

With that detail things change.

At the end I opted for a Corsair SF750 as psu (80+ platinum) and I’m evaluating and AIO 240 for cpu heatsink

IMO AIOs are not suitable for a 24/7 operation.

Whatever CPU aircooler fits in the case… By current standards, LGA1151-2 CPUs are not that hot or difficult to cool.
