My NAS is slow

I have had my NAS server for just over 10 years now, and for some reason recently it has become very slow with transferring files from my PC to the NAS or vice versa. The transfer speed transferring a 10Gb video file is about 900 kB/sec. Also as I have media files on my NAS and use Plex or Jellyfin to play them on my tv, but some video files are now stuttering due to the server not being fast enough.

The board I have is a supermicro X95CM-F , which has 2 ethernet ports. I use the bottom port for a lan connection where I have a CAT6 cable from TrueNAS server to a 16 port switch. I also have a cat6 cable from the 2nd lan port to the switch to try and speed things up.

It used to be fast enough for media files, and all I did was to swap the cat5e cable to cat6 cable.

What can I do to speed the fille transfer speed up more

What happens if you switch it back? Wonder if faulty wire.

You also mention two connections to the switch, is this a link aggregate or uhh, do you have two seperate ips/subnets for these links?

I have just connected a cat5e UTP cable to my NAS server to the switch and the transfer speed has gone up from about 1.7mb/sec using 2 lan cables , to just under 80mb/sec using 1 lan cable

Something strange is going on with the supposedly cat6 Amazon basics cable.

The switch is a basic 16 port Netgear unmanaged/managed

Update:

I have returned 2 Amazon basic cat6 cables and ordered x2 rhinocable cat6a cables in their place
