I’m currently running Core 13.3-U1 with a Plex server running in a jail. I’m planning on converting to Scale and my tests on various VMs running 24.04 tell me that I can’t mount multiple folders into the app version of Plex the way I could in the iocage jail version. I’m hoping for a little advice on the matter.
In my current setup I have a Media dataset for TV and films and another for backups from multiple PCs in the house. I’ve used mount points to add multiple folders from these two datasets into the jail as subfolders. For example, the entire Media dataset as /plex/root/media, and a subfolder in the backups dataset as /plex/media/pictures.
In the app settings in 24.04, I’ve set the Media dataset as the Plex Data Storage location, but unless I’m missing something, there’s no way to add further locations in one or more datasets.
I’d rather not duplicate the data in the Backups dataset just so that I have a copy of it in the Media set, so is there another option for making the folders in the Backups dataset visible in the app, or in the Media dataset? I’m thinking of something like a shortcut or junction, probably.
I don’t need or want additional datasets right now, I just want to make subfolders in the existing datasets accessible to the Plex app/container.
Is it possible to add more than one mount point to the Plex Data Storage configuration? I’m guessing that apps can accept as many mount points as the maintainer wishes, but in this case, the Plex app’s configuration options appears to only allow one mount point for all media.
I can only highlight a single dataset/subfolder at a time and after one has been added there is no obvious way to add a second. Am I missing something obvious?
