New install and importing a back up configuration?

I am building a new box so that I can add more drives and I have been asking question about this on other post and the replies have been great …Thank you everyone .

So I know I can build the new box and import my configuration with the old drives as expected - great .

The question I have is now on the new box I will have a little different setup. I am planning to have two ssd mirrored for the boot-pool as well as new emc 1 tb for cash.

Now I know I can set this all up when doing the new install on the new box.

My question is when I import my old configuration will it append to the new or over write those new settings ?

The old drives will retain all information in the pool they are exported from, the mirrored boot drives will be a different pool and will play nicely with your imported ZFS pool from you old system. Additionally, add more memory to the new system, do not add cache. ZFS is VERY good as using memory as realty efficient cache and caching SSDs in many cases can be SLOWER than using memory. I had some slowness on my 64GB TN system so for my primary I went to 96GB and it flies with all of that memory to cache data in.
