Newbie Configuration Question

I am new to TrueNAS (Scale) and have some basic setup and configuration questions.

Though this is more of an annoyance statement more than it is a question, I was unsuccessful in configuring the IP address using the UI as it kept erroring out with the following, unhelpful error

“Network Reconnection Issue. We encountered an issue while applying the new network changes. Unfortunately, we were unable to reconnect to the system after the changes were implemented. As a result, we have restored the previous network configuration to ensure continued connectivity.”

Setting the static IP address and gateway using the text-based configuration utility worked just fine, but it would have been preferable to use the UI. Anyone know why this might be happening, what I am doing wrong.?

But more importantly and more to the point, my original goal with TrueNAS was just to spin up a basic ZFS server, unaware of TrueNAS Scale’s virtualization capabilities/support. Now that I am aware of them, I am re-evaluating, re-considering my approach, and may want to leverage this capability. This calls into question my pool architecture. I have a 3-way mirror of NvME drives where I was planning on putting my filesystem/datastore. Given this, would it be unwise to add a zVol to accommodate a lone VM? Given that the drives are NvME, which do well with random IO, and given that I never expect the load to be too demanding on this system, what are the risks of using the same pool for both workloads? I don’t really want to go back and ask the customer to spend more money on additional drives.

Thanks in advance!
