I just want to check my disks, why is there no where in the GUI to do such a simple task?
Do I seriously have to make an app pool for this single task? I have absolutely no need for app other than this.

Because it was removed in 25.10.
Or install Joe’s multi-report script. And since Scrutiny doesn’t run SMART self-tests, I’d recommend installing multi-report in any event.

Why on earth would they remove such a vital function of a NAS and make you jump through extra hoops to regain the most basic of functionality
I appreciate your suggestion and will look into it
If this is just one of many quirks I’m to discover where basic functionality has been made more complicated than needed, I’ll just go try unraid instead
Your username makes it sound like you’d already made that decision before you joined. But I’ll leave it to iX to defend this decision.

Yeah, why would SMART get removed? That seems like a strange choice…
Some day I hope to get off of TrueNAS Core 13 but just have not pulled the trigger yet - things like this make me wonder if I ever will
