I believe I am seeing this EDIT: relatively uncommon? word in posts here quite frequently recently. Happenstance, or is some event behind its use?

I suspect that non-English speakers may like to pick up a nice-sounding word when they come across one.
That one sounds even more uncommon…

What I find is that words and phrases come into common use (or “re-use”) as a result of popular culture or industry/occupation culture. I’m frequently intrigued to know the origin/initiation of the use.
I’m very familiar with “shenanigans” and was surprised to see it here in the forum several times, hence my question in this post.
