Are there any things that need attention before expanding a pool? Do I have to “shutdown/stop” any or all tasks and/or keep them from running? Tasks like Scrub, Periodic Snapshot Tasks, Replication Tasks and S.M.A.R.T tasks? Most of those I run daily except for Scrub and Long smart task run monthly. Can I continue to use (mostly read) the data from the pool while the expansion is running? I have five 12tb Seagate Ironwolfs (cmr) and going to add a sixth and then 7.
I would scrub / SMART then do expansion. You can put both on hold temporarily. Avoiding scrub while expanding helps a little. Continue using server otherwise.

Expansion automatically scrubs before and after.
As everything ZFS, expansion is designed to occur on a live pool. Keep using it normally.
