QNAP raid5 in TrueNas

I have pulled 8 disks from QNAP because the QNAP machine got broken, the disks were configured in raid 5.

Now I have setup a dell server with TrueNas and put the disks in the new setup.

I can see all my disks in the TrueNas. Is there any way I could import the QNAP raid5 in True Nas?

Welcome to TrueNAS!

Short answer no.

Longer answer maybe. But it’s complicated. And if you have to ask, the process may be beyond your skill set.

Someone else may have a more complete information. Or even a guide on how to do it. We can wait and see.

There is a whole thread on the QNAP forum which shows a number of options with alternate debian lvm and mdadm scans to get the volume info. I haven’t tried these but I do have Ubuntu Desktop running on my old TS453D!

Alternative short answer: TrueNAS is strictly a NAS. Data is supposed to come in through the network, not from reading local disks—and certainly not non-ZFS disks.

See if you can mount your RAID array to your desktop, without buying a new QNAP system to put them in.
