Does anyone have experience with any data recovery vendors in Los Angeles?
Looking to recover a ZFS pool on a TrueNAS Mini 3.0 XL.
For 3 of 8 HGST drives - no device is showing up.
Thank you kindly
Jeff

Full details on your system, OS version and how you had the pools set up. We can’t help diagnose without more info.
Truenas Core 13.0 stable (latest today)
One ZFS volume in Z2 config
Thank you,
Have you tried powering off and reseating the drives? Any error messages on the screen?

I am saying this with all due respect, you were asked for three things:
You gave no answer to the first one and incomplete answers to the last two.
You are (of course) not required to answer any question. This was just an attempt to give you assistance here and now. If this data is important enough and backups are unavailable you are right to try to seek out hands-on assistance. Maybe post on reddit as well? Just be sure to vet any offers in DMs very carefully. Professional help is very expensive.
In any case, best of luck.
Yes I have rebooted and reseated the drives, and tested the backplane.
The current errors are:
-pool offline
-3 drives missing entirely from Disks list
The log has errors from a few months ago but for only one of the drives.
The client was warned of their responsibilities to keep the data safe, etc.
I think you may be able to get help here to diagnose on the forum, but more info would be needed.
My current understanding is the system is and has the following:
TrueNAS Mini 3.0 XL system
Recently updated to version 13.0 of Truenas core
One Pool consisting of one or possibly 2 Vdev(s) in raidz2 for a total of 8 HGST drives → (this is my guess based off the one volume z2 comment and drive qty.)
The issue is 3 drives are missing
Questions
→ is there a current working backup of the data?
→ What specific version of Truenas was the system upgraded from?
→ what model of HGST drives are actually installed?
→ did the 3 drives disappear after the update was performed, or were they already missing, or don’t know?
→ is there a recent copy of the config file?
→ is there a copy of the original config file and setup documentation?
Even if you go the route of hiring a local hands-on recovery person, they can use the above info.
1 vdev. no backup. He8. no updated performed. tech person left and no one was getting notifications
looking for recommendations of good experiences with data recovery in los angeles, possibly with raid or zfs
thank you!
