Reliable UPS for TrueNAS in 2026 that's (semi) affordable?

I don’t mind the cloud management, and the only thing I care about is if the UPS can support what’s plugged in for 30 seconds until the generator starts. Since all my servers have dual power supplies, that splits the load across a pair of UPS, and three of them can easily support 6 servers (no AI or other really heavy loads).

I was tired of buying batteries, and tired of them only notifying me they were dying when then power went out.

I have 5 CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD (Supports up to 1000w) and have been using them for I wouldn’t be surprised if it was 10 years. Think I used these all the way back with FreeNAS 9.2 with the older version with the black and white display. They are around $200-240. The replacement batteries (2) are about $40-50 for both. If you consider this expensive then I would recommend you abort this hobby and do something else. I use them for my TrueNAS Server, 3D Printers, Desktop PC, Home Theater, and Aquarium.

The UPS Service model that works with these is Cyber Power Systems ups 3 CP1000PFCLCD USB (usbhid-ups)

If you get the RMCARD205 it should work under Cyber Power Systems ups 3 RMCARD205 (snmp-ups) but I am stupid and can’t figure out how to configure it.

Also I would not recommend the thinking that… “Well I don’t need 1000w right now” I have never had one of these fail. Just get the biggest unit.

Just looked at my unit I have on my TrueNAS right now and it has 202 events on it. Not sure if or how the number resets but I replaced the batteries a year ago.

I have an APC SUA1000RMI2U which I got from a local supplier, it’s 2nd hand with a fresh battery and only cost 130 euros delivered, fits your requirements and is utterly reliable. It’s the first UPS I’ve had in over a decade that I haven’t cursed for letting me down.
