Replace system "around drives"

Hi Forum,

I want to replace my system with a more powerful one (actually an Intel N100 system with N305) and want to keep all settings and data.

Will it work when I take the SSDs of my current system and put it into the new one?

Or is it the better approach to do a fresh install on the new system and install the pool disks into the now system?

Many thanks,
Frank

It should work. You will have to reconfigure the network though.

Yes, you can do this. Back up your configuration first, including the seed, just because. Always safe to have a backup of your pools because if you are a fumblefingers like me… yeah, drives hitting the floor is not a good thing. You also probably want to make sure the new server hardware actually works before you move your drives over - memtest, cpu test, drive test, and so on before you move over your drives and put it in production.
