Replacing standalone SSD drive in the PCIe slot - HP Gen10 Microserver v2 Plus

Hi all,

Looking for some guidance on how to replace an NVMe SSD drive I have plugged into a PCIe slot in a HP Gen10 Microserver v2 Plus. It is not configured as any RAID setup, just a standalone drive.

It is backed up / replicated using zfs replication. But, since it is still operational currently, and all I want to do is swap it out with a new SSD, I’m wondering if I can just plug in the new SSD to a USB port temporarily and then do a “Replace” somehow?

I’ve replaced drives that were part of a RAIDZ1 pool before, which was fairly easy, automatic, and relied on resilvering the new disk after exporting the old drive and plugging in the new.

But, I’ve never attempted a replace of a standalone device like this, with connecting the drive to a USB port temporarily.

If anyone has experience doing this, could you comment on how you did it?

Thank you!
