Running a Photon Server

Photon Server is a windows only application. It would need to be ran in Wine. I wanted to try out running a Photon Server in Wine to see if it can work. How would I go about setting up a Wine application in Truenas? Can I run it directly as an app? Does it need to be made into a docker image?

I’d probably try it in a lxc incus container because in the lxc you can just install wine and every other software that’s needed via apt

I didn’t see it in Truenas Scale Library.

lxc are only available on fangtooth, so if you’re still on electric eel you’d have to update to the RC version of fangtooth or wait 2 weeks for the .0 release of fangtooth.

…and even in that case, you won’t see it in the “library.” You’d need to create an “instance,” which can be either a VM or an LXC (I think I’d lean more toward a VM, but I imagine either would work). Once you do, it’s a Linux installation, and you can install whatever you want in it. Or, for that matter, you could just install Windows in a VM. But this would in any case be very much a manual process.
