I’m using enough spinning drives in my 2 VDEV pool to saturate a 10Gb network connection, but I also have some SSDs that I could add.
I doubt they would add any additional speed, but would they do any good for reliability or recovery?

No.
Okay then.
Might there be another use for these SSDs in my build?
Dedicated vm or apps config pool
Without knowing what you do with your system it’s hard to tell…
Currently, I only use my server for storing backups.
If not using VMs or Apps like @LarsR suggested, then you can make a “scratch pool” to use for unimportant, staging, or temporary data.
I have a dedicated SSD pool that I use for my jails on Core, but I’ve also created datasets on it for the purposes explained above.
