Hi,
I’m new on this community, sorry if this request was already discussed before. I’m using multiple TrueNAS systems with ZFS replica and shoud be nice to place TrueCommand in a wall monitor in our control room to check if all the systems are ok. My problem is the timeout of the web session and I’m asking to myself if is possible to integrate a kiosk url function in read only mode. Thanks for your suggestions
javascript bookmarklet that will refresh page every x minutes.
A bookmarklet is a bookmark stored in a web browser that contains JavaScript commands that add new features to the browser. They are stored as the URL of a bookmark in a web browser or as a hyperlink on a web page. Bookmarklets are usually small snippets of JavaScript executed when a user clicks on them. When clicked, bookmarklets can perform a wide variety of operations, such as running a search query from selected text or extracting data from a table. Another name for bookmarklet is favelet or...
TrueCommand has configurable session expiry, and sessions can last forever if you wish. TrueNAS Connect does not have this configuration currently.
session timeout forever (like zack said) is the main knob
for a wall noc box i usually do:
TrueCommand → Admin → set session expiry to never / max
dedicated read-only / auditor user so the kiosk isnt logged in as full admin
chromium/chrome on the wall pc:
chromium --kiosk --app=https://YOUR-TC-URL
disable sleep/blank on that box (gnome/kde power settings → never)
optional: a tiny systemd user timer that hits the tc url every 30m so the tab stays warm even if something still ages out
trueNAS Connect doesnt have the forever-session toggle yet, so for Connect youre stuck refreshing or using the bookmarklet somethingweird posted.
