After upgrading/install Fangtooth 25.04-RC.1 i have noticed that there is no Netdata tab in the reporting section as shown in various videos.
Truenas running as VM on proxmox
Its missing for me to on the prod release
Just saw this in the changelogs:
- The built-in Netdata UI, accessible from the Netdata button on the Reporting screen in TrueNAS 24.04 and 24.10, is removed in TrueNAS 25.04 (and later) for security hardening. Users wishing to continue using the Netdata UI to monitor system reports can install the [Netdata]application.
Are there instructions for doing this? How do you get the private key? The command they ask to use;
sudo cat /var/lib/netdata/netdata_random_session_id
doesnât seem to work?
Linked from the release notes theyâre quoting: Netdata | TrueNAS Documentation Hub
Iâm not aware of any additional shell commands needed to generate a session ID after installing the app. Are you finding the app not working without one?
Thank you for the Tutorial link. Some of the (minor) details donât match like there doesnât seem to be a Force flag and the button doesnât say âWeb Portalâ. But I think my problem was that when I get down to âUsing the Netdata Web Portalâ and click on the Web UI, it doesnât come straight up with the local agent data like in the tutorial, it comes up with the screen in Figure 16. I need to click on âSkip and use the dashboard anonymouslyâ in small type at the bottom every time. If I click to Sign In, I get prompted for a private key from â/var/lib/netdata/netdata_random_session_idâ which does not exist.
Is there a way to bypass the cloud login screen?
Iâm not entirely sure since I didnât personally validate that tutorial and the last update to it appears to have been in February, which means some things could have changed since then. Hopefully another user can point you in the right direction.
I found this;
So, apparantly itâs a âfeatureâ implemented with a recent version of Netdata.
Based on the screenshots, the tutorial uses version 2.0.3 of Netdata and the version installed into my TN 25.04 is 2.4.0.
Perhaps the tutorial should be updated, and/or a checkbox added to the appâs configuration that would optionally append the â/v3â mentioned in the article to the URL opened by the âWeb UIâ button.
Good idea
That will be included in this PR.
