They are ULA (Unique Local Address) IPv6 addresses in the fd00::/8 range, used for private LAN/internal network communication. They are routable within your local network but not accessible from the internet.
Oh yes - that did workaround it ![]()
i only have one question
so like Chris mentioned for the train lines,
so ok we update to 25.10.3 then it changes to the beta train. ok.
when later, when 25.10.3 becomes flagged stable, does it automatically put us back into the general train? or, do we need to manually set the train back to general from beta manually?
not a big deal, just wondering how this works ![]()
cauz will have to take a mental note to change this the next time something like this occurs, especially if itās not auto for switching back to the general line.
For myself, yeh it did show updates available, but only option shown now is the beta train. i obviously didnāt update to that since iām sort of in the in between of a mini beta since 25.10.3 is not quite flagged stable yet.
so i simply just relied on the website to check the status of the version releases, or like u said, wait for the status to update to stable
but basically i have to check the site manually rather than rely on the truenas ānew updateā, just to be 100% sure ![]()
Once you are on 25.10.3, manually set your release train to āGeneralā. You will then only see updates that are also āGeneralā.
Didnāt see it when i switched to general, but i see it too. My guess is that itās a minor display error because thereās no other version available to display there. Instead of that error it should just display āno update availableā thereā¦
When you switch back to early adopter that field will show truenas 26 beta as available.
I have also seen this. Instead of a full restart, I opened up the terminal and restarted the middleware.
$ sudo systemctl restart middlewared
Once the middleware restarted that error message was gone.
Exactly right. And apparently a minor issue that is already fixed for 26 and so just a known issue for 25.10: NAS-140736.
Yes, you can. That is the planned update process.
If you are on an early adopter release and switched to āgeneralā profile⦠you would no longer see any updates to the release you are on. Some of those updates may be important to you. It adds risk.
Either stay on āgeneralā and TrueNAS will do its best to guide you
or be an early adopter and have individual control with release notes for guidance. Automatic or manualā¦
The middle ground has its own set of issues which can be difficult to deal with.
To switch from āearly adopterā to āgeneralā.. update to a āgeneralā version recommended in software status page and then switch.
If you want to try out the next release, you then choose āearly adopterā profile and transition. You will then stay on āearly adopterā until there is a āgeneralā release version.
Its complex now, because no-one has yet decided whether they want automatic or manual⦠25.10.3 makes it easier, but you now have to pick.
Thank you for your effort ![]()
I just upgraded my two TN boxes from 25.04.2.6 to 25.10.3.
Upgrade went wo. any hickups, even though i was a bit ājumpyā during the upgrades.
Found : Manage Configuration under Advanced settings.
But what about the Update ā> Upgrade Profile ?
I have selected nothing yet ⦠: Am i already on āGeneralā
Or should i select it manually ??
These are āProdā so iād like āstableā
You are on the General train. It is showing as your current update profile and you are showing your system is update to date. If you were on a different train, you would be offered the 26 Beta as an option
Confirming that 25.10.3 is now āGeneralā and ready for adoption. It has over 30,000 users and is very solid.
The chart below shows that the 25.04.2.6 version is the most popular, with the next 3 versions of 25.10 following. Altogether, 25.10 is the most popular release, and 25.10.3 (light blue) is the one that is growing most rapidly.
Our Enterprise customers have started using this 25.10.3 version. Itās expected to take the popularity crown by June. We do not expect any more 25.04 updates.
Thanks for all the testing and bug reports to get us to this quality state. We expect more uneventful updates and deployments going forward.
After updating to 25.10.3, select the āgeneralā profile in the system update page if youād like a simpler and more reliable update sequence going forward.
Most of our new development work is now going into TrueNAS 26. That is going well, but is really for very early adopters at this stage.
I had no trouble updating two systems to 25.10.3 from 25.10.2.1.
On the third, an X10SDV, repeatedly I get a kernel panic with the message āunable to load root file systemā. If I delete the boot environment and attempt the update again, same problem. But I can go back to 25.10.2.1 without an issue.
@elorimer If you donāt have a separate thread for your issue, please create one.
This is great thanks for sharing. Being one of those more conservative storage folk Im more interested in Enterprise adoption for those āMission Criticalā systems. Would you be happy to share a graph showing what your Enterprise customers are currently running?
I am very happy with 25.10.3, specially it sorted thru all my LDAP issues I reported earlier. I will continue reporting things are the come up, but thank you all for all the effort to get us to 25.10.3, looks solid!
We donāt share customer information as a rule.
I can say that most new systems are on 25.04.2.6⦠the transition to 25.10 is just starting. New systems will now use 25.10 by default.
I guess I was more interested in how many of your existing customers are still running CORE as a rough percentage?
