Community download page says “Before using, be sure to read the Introduction to TrueNAS Community Edition post, Release Notes, and Developer’s Notes.“, but ‘developer notes’ links to 26.04 (TrueNAS 26.04 (Early) | TrueNAS Documentation Hub).
I guess it would be so that developers who are developing for things for TrueNAS would be doing so on the version that is to be released soon. I get the confusion - but unless you’re planning to be developing things for TrueNAS, you’re good to skip the early release & just click this:
But it says to read it before installing…
It’s not a link error but it is very dated. At the time that sentence was written TrueNAS didn’t have versioned documentation, everything was rolling along with latest development, so you had two separate pages, the release notes for the current release and the development notes for the upcoming nightlies. After we added in versioning to the documentation, that /devnotes URL was aliased to the next version notes and I guess the Release Notes link has been manually updated, which fits the intent of the original sentence, but the whole thing is less useful than it used to be considering how old the introduction to SCALE community post is at this point too.
Luckily I know @Captain_Morgan mentioned in a recent thread that they are already looking at clarity improvements to the Downloads page.
