What are the options to sync Google Workspace and Truenas users to use them for auth. against SMB?

Hi,

Samba ldap schema is deprecated, right so this is not possible anymore if the Google plan includes ldap.

It is not an exotic situation to deal with Google and Truenas and to wanna sync them to use it also for smb.

I would like to find people who sit in the same boat and to start an discussion about that.

Thanks and Best

Would also like to see how one could leverage google or other IDP for the day to day security admin of users, groups and shares that don’t require us to stand up active directory servers on premises.

Similarly, is there a playbook to use Entra ID (the cloud tenant containing our existing M365 subscription holders) ?

To integrate m$ Identities into Truenas is pretty trivial

My challenge is how to deal with it if I do not run any m$ ident services at all to be able to auth against smb on Truenas It also seems to be an Generation issue due to its auth hashes…To my knowledge currently ntlmn and kerberos.

Eg. Further I would like to know why the ldap implementation is still in Truenas since ldap samba scheme was deprecated?

I am still super surprised that this topic does not care anybody - Just guessing why
