Yes, you did say your devs can “magically” deal with this licensing issue. The only thing devs can do is make it harder for people to get code (running) to bypass arbitrary “licensing” blocks for LTS releases.
(and for the sake of all thats holy, dont even think about creating LTS “modules” that are closed source, legal will get a brain hemorrage if you do )

I thought a forum existed for open discussion and giving opinions. between users.
In my opinion, this feels a lot like iX isn’t willing to learn from, what users deem are, mistakes (too short of a dev-cycle, too many experimental crap being put into releases etc) and now want to monetise their own stubbornness.
For clearity:
I appreciate the fact iX is thinking about LTS builds and the effort of giving users a place to input feedback on that.
But, there are bigger fish to fry when it comes to product stability, usability and the stability of upgrades

Kjeld, if you and TrueCharts have other needs make your own thread and be clear about why.

Exactly, which I’m thoroughly responding on.
You might not like it, but I’m still responding on the LTS proposal.
Kjeld
With all due respect: While I might fiercely disagree with you on the idea of an LTS build (or rather: the reasons behind the need for such a build). There is no reason to make it personal or to assume we’re somehow on a first-name basis.
and TrueCharts
I don’t see why bringing other projects that have nothing to do with my comments, adds anything to the discussion about LTS builds?
I would ask to keep this on topic, about LTS builds in some way, without passive aggressively calling people by their first names or bringing in other people/projects not involved.
Yep, noted, Puffin doesn’t want an LTS subscription option. There’ll be plenty of users in that boat. If it materializes, it’d be an option for a reason.
“I want free LTS” also noted: Those voices will always exist. But that doesn’t get us anywhere.
Nothing further from me on those two items.
I’ve ran out of votes but just to say I would be interested in this idea. I have a lot of TN systems that I would be happy to pay iX some cash to ensure they stayed on an LTS version for X number of years. Ideally I’d like something a bit more than just an LTS version and instead an open communication channel so that I could treat iX like a partner to my business. Currently the only way to achieve this is via purchasing iX Enterprise HW which over the years I’ve really wanted to do but just couldn’t justify the cost compared to DIY. Some sort of middle ground for those of us that don’t need iX hardware but would love to have closer ties with the company and give back a little.
PS: Please don’t charge per TB, I hate that. If you’re going to do it make it either a per system licence or for larger deployments a site licence.
Besides LTS, I’d pay good money for a Prosumer version that includes things like native LTO backup.
Not easy to do, but it should be a separate feature request. Lets start with finding out if there good paid LTO backup approaches.
