Then I’ll be a cry-hard.

EDIT: Standing in a pool of my own tears, I’ll have to make the choice of trying zVault (if it’s feasible), making the jump to SCALE, or (unlikely) trying to roll my own ZFS server.

TrueNAS in a TrueNAS VM would be silly in most cases–it’s just an example.

@Stux makes great use of this to record tutorials for YouTube. Everything you see in his videos are in a virtualized TrueNAS running inside a TrueNAS host.
