Well, using nested datasets is not recommended inside SMB shares, as such, I haven’t tested it, and I would not be surprised if it were unreliable.

2. The recommendation is to create one dataset per NFS export or SMB share
3. Although the SMB server allows traversal of dataset mountpoints, this can be variously handled poorly by some clients (especially handling synthesized MS-FSCC file ids).
