Just a home lab user who decided to turn his old computer which couldn’t run Window 11 into a NAS. What started as an experiment has turned into one of my most useful appliances in my home and has expanded my knowledge of Linux, Bash scripting, networking/reverse proxies, and Docker.
Initially attracted to TrueNAS by its best selling feature: its price tag ($0.00). Started with TrueNAS Scale 24.10 (Electric Eel) and am currently on TrueNAS 25.10.4 (Goldeye). I am a heavy user of apps, including Automatic-Ripping-Machine (ARM), Jellyfin, Immich, NGINX, and even a Palworld server. Only running a 256 GB SATA SSD as a boot drive, plus an 8 TB and a 10 TB NAS hard drive mirrored (8TB usable). Yes, I know I was supposed to buy identical drives, but the 10 TB (which I bought recently) was really cheap. I also have a 2 TB drive which I’m not using… Really looking forward to AnyRAID coming to TrueNAS.
