I’ve joined the NAS to my AD and I’m using a AD created account with permissions. It will work for a bit, but then the DC locks out the account
That sounds like something you should troubleshoot by looking through your DC logs. The account used to join AD is only used one time (to create the AD machine account). Once the machine account is created, its credentials are used for all future AD-related operations.
