Iv bought some 2.5gb network cards , to try and increase the transfer speed form me PC to NAS
adding one of the 2.5gb cards to the pc is straight forward , however adding the other the NAS has changed the IP address and nothing will connect ( drives )
is it possible to add the new network card and keep the same old IP address as before ?
Of course. Either manually configure the new card to have the old address, or configure your router to issue the old address to the new card.
Thanks ,
all this new to me , how would one go about adding the old address on the NAS ?
You’d follow the documentation to configure the new network interface. The link is at the top-right of the page.
- Connect Monitor or via IPMI
- Chose option 1
- Assign the old IP to the new NIC
Thanks guy’s , will have a read through and see what’s what
Well thats gone tits up !!!
Tried adding the card
Couldn’t get it to work ,
Managed to get old ip working, and noticed plex wasnt working,
So i thought loading the default configuration would revert the settings i had , ( number 5 from the gui )
only to find its completely wiped everything!!!
Managed to import the pool
but thats all is there ( no plex app settings).
Is there a way to find all the plex settings i had !! ?
Do u have snapshots ?
No ,
How i go about doing this ,
Managed to get everything up and running again
I was shitting bricks an hour ago, though i lost all my data !!
But all is well again lol
Dont worry, happens to the best of us.
Updated the BIOS today and it messed alot things up aswell
Seriously, what made you think that? Resetting the config to defaults resets all the configuration to defaults–users, shares, apps, everything.
Upload a saved copy of the config database that you wiped out.
They won’t help if a user’s wiped the config database as OP did.
Lucky it wasn’t encrypted.
Going to give this an other try
After adding card , it gives me an other IP addresse with the 2.5gb card which is fine ,
What im stuck at is plex , how do i configured plex with the new ip address ?
