After TrueNAS reboot - TimeMachine is unavailable because it uses a locked dataset

I am running TrueNAS-13.0-U6.1 with Radarr, Sonarr, jellyfin and TimeMachine.

Two weeks ago I shutdown my server because I was going on vacation, and after I rebooted yesterday I found out that basically nothing of the “services” I am using was working anymore:

  • Radarr and Sonarr were not able to connect to the indexers anymore
  • I was not able to connect to jellyfin with any device
  • TimeMachine disk could not be found by my macs

So now I am trying to solve the issue and try to prevent this from happening again in the future because at least 2 times a year I will be shutting down my server for some time and it would be nice if everything just keeps working when I reboot it again after some days/weeks.

Since I have no clue what happened I will focus on the TM issue and hope that all those issues have the same root cause.

So TrueNAS gives me this warning:

### WARNING

#### SMB share "TimeMachine" is unavailable because it uses a locked dataset.

In addition. there is a system update available but tbh I am a bit scared to upgrade especially in a state where “nothing” is working.

Hopefully someone can guide me to solve and understand this issue.

Are you using encryption?

yes I do.

My guess is that you have to unlock your pool/dataset. @winnielinnie is our friendly encryption specialist but be aware: he’s such a winnie :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

thank you that solved it… but this means that the other issues are not related to this
