Anyone running DAAPd in a Docker container?

DAAP is Apple’s protocol for streaming an iTunes* music library over a LAN to other devices. This could be a HomePod or Apple TV. The protocol has been reverse engineered, now code exists to run a DAAPd that will serve an iTunes music library from a Linux host. It looks like DAAPd can be run from a Docker container.

Has anyone done this on TrueNAS? Would you mind sharing how you accomplished it?

  • As for the name iTunes, in 2019 the app was renamed to “Music,” but I am referring to the library as “iTunes music library,” because “Music music library” would be very confusing.
