APP and VM drive almost full best way to change SSD?

Hello

I have a 250GB SSD for apps and containers. Its almost full. 80%+

-I dont know whats taking up so much space (then again 250GB inst that big). I have Home assistant in virtual machine (64GB). for apps i use +arr stack, adguard, tailscale,… I have not enouf kowledge but i think it strange that ist so full.

-A fault i made is that i dint make separate dataset for each app. Will I need to remake all of them to fix this??

Probably best solution buying a larger SSD. Whats the best way to move all the apps and VM? While apps are a big job to get set up again. I confident that i can do it. The VM whit Home assistant was way harder and i dont want to make faults. But if i can do both without allot of work it would be better ofc.

-second problem is that i am out is M.2 slots. I wil probably need to move it to the main dataset. Instal new SSD and move again. Hope this doenst give extra problems.

If you have a spare SATA slot andf larger SSD then simply extend the stripe into a mirror. As long as the new drive is bigger then this should just work. This will form a 256GB mirror vdev.

Then, when things are finished simply remove the original 256GB NVMe. After this happens you should be able to expand the now remaining stipe of 1 disk to its maximum size.

You can now buy a bigger NVMe, rinse and repeat back to the new NVMe.

[N.B.] I consider it good practise to always keep a spare slot available for these sort of shennanigans
