First, let me start by saying that, although I have used TrueNAS for many years, I’m not the most experienced user of Linux. I’ve mostly muddled my way through by messing around with the default install as little as possible and following YouTube videos.
I upgraded from Core to Scale about a year ago and my configurations migrated happily. I migrated from Dragonfish to Electric Eel a few months ago and, once again, everything migrated without problem.
Today I attempted the move to 24.10.1 (from 24.04.2.5) and the server upgraded happily but all my apps are stuck as “Deploying”. I have tried switching back to the 24.04.2.5 but still none of my apps are deploying. I’m only using Tailscale and Plex from the official catalogue.
The Audit logs show Middleware trying to login using the root user and a “Failed Authentication: Token” message, followed by a “Credentials: Password Login” message.
Am I right in thinking that my issue may be related to me dragging a very old and out of date setup through multiple iterations and not paying too much heed to ix-Systems telling me to get rid of my root user?
If that is the case, could someone who really understands this stuff please provide a bit of guidance on how best to sort my mess out? I’m hoping for a bit more help than “it’s all explained in the documentation” as I’m not all that savvy in all things Linux and a bit of step by step instruction would be greatly appreciated.
Of course, if I’m wildly off the mark as to the cause of this problem, other advice would also be very much appreciate.
