Are certain motherboards still not fully supported?

It’s probably 8 or 10 years ago now I read on the forums a certain Asus workstation motherboard did not implement certain features properly and would be unreliable with FreeNas. I’m trying to pick out a motherboard today, and want to double check that boards are compatible. Should I basically stick to Super Micro?

TrueNAS SCALE is now based on a
Linux kernel, and generally has better hardware compatibility than the BSD based Core.

But at the end of the day, it still comes down to how reliable rhe feature and its implementation are.
