Hey all,
I have my TrueNAS server set up partially as a time machine backup for a macbook. For some reason, it consistently tries to backup way more than it should. I have the backblaze backup task set to “sync” and I have the time machine storage limited to 1 tb. On my local server, the time machine backup uses 442 Gb. In Backblaze, however, it consistently sends way more. It’s currently at 3200 Gb and it hits my storage cap and then stops anything else from backing up.
I don’t understand why it’s working this way. It seems to me like the sync task should sync between my local and the remote storage. Why does it seem to just push data there and overflow my Backblaze account?
What’s strange about this is that I have it set up in 2 separate backups. This time machine share is backed up, and then a separate folder containing all of my personal photos, documents, etc. is also backed up. My personal folder uses 347 Gb locally and 347 Gb on Backblaze. It’s only my time machine share that consistently uses way more data than it should.
Does anybody have recommendations on how to fix this? I appreciate the help.
