Backups (Accessing SMB with a UNC Paht)

Hi, guys!

I’ve run FreeNAS and later TrueNAS-CORE on a production server for what seems like a millenium now. I’ve always used IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM or, Spectrum Protect by todays naming). I backup SMB shares from a Windows proxy using UNC paths in my config file like /nas/sharename and it’s always worked flawlessly. A bit slow, but flawless.

Last weekend, I upgraded to the latest version of TrueNAS-SCALE on this production machine, and I can no longer back it up. I get what is basically a permission denied. (Access to the object was forbidden is the exact error) from the TSM backup client. One the SMB share and fileset, my user (/domain/brianm) as well as /domain/administrator and /domain/administrtors (group) all have full control access. From Windows I can read/write anything I want in any share. However, the backup client still fails.

I feel like I’m missing something but, I don’t know TrueNAS-SCALE well enough yet to go hunting for it. Is there any special permissions I have to set to access SMB shares by UNC or is there a file access log I can go look at? I’ve been a week with no backups and hoping to fix this sooner rather than later ; -)

Thanks!
