I migrated from Core 13.0-U6.2 to Scale 24.04.2 a few weeks ago.
As I have got all the different boot environments in the boot listing, is it possible to choose a 13.0-U6.2 boot environment and boot TrueNAS from it without causing any problems. If it does, then I’ll have to stay with Scale for the time being.
Sorry, after you migrate from CORE to SCALE you cannot go back.
The only way back if you have your CORE config file, is to clean install CORE from an iso file, upload your config file and try to import your pools. Trying any other method can break your system.
I connected a monitor and keyboard with the intention of starting again with Core 13. For some reason I could not get into the bios of the TrueNAS system, so I let the boot process continue to a menu of either Core or Scale. I tried core and it booted up but the GUI was not complete, as the text was missing from the side menu. I then rebooted and selected Scale, which did boot up ok and everything is as it was. Consequently I’m still running TrueNAS Scale.
Sounds like you need to do the clean install using the iso file to boot into the CORE installer.
From the after setting up the system to access the iso file, use the option on the Console Setup menu to reboot, use delete key or the F11 key to redirect to boot into the TrueNAS CORE installer. You might need to tweak the BIOS to get the system to boot from the correct drive instead of the system hard drive that has SCALE installed.
