Can we have back in ElectricEel the MetalLB or macvlan/ipvlan so we can have external IPs?

Hi Gents,
I hope you will understand the issue I had.
It happens for the third time since TrueNAS Free bhive’s.
Every time something changes and we lose the possibilities the VApps and any docker or kubernetes immediately got limited only to be exposed to the external network. However this is still possible to be done via using Virtual machines with General Vitrualization.
Sometimes is necessary the app to have diect access to the network and not to behind NAT.
At least maybe someone can provide a useful steps how this can be done.

At this stage it can only be done with custom apps.

(Raw compose, Dockge, portainer)

You create the Macvlan network on the command line, then use it in the custom app.

There are plans to add network support to the regular apps, but that will not make it for release I think.

Well, I know this will solve the issue but will be nice to have useful product.
Since we moved away from Core to Scale, a direct connection to the network has always been a issue. License or no - we’re lacking this, unless use a VM.
TrueCharts & MetalLB was kind of working in 90% of cases, but now - no more TrueCharts.
I hope maybe in the next release more advanced networking approach will be taken.
It is quite annoying to be necessary every time to reconfigure the home lab.
Also because of this “hops”, we cannot offer TrueNAS to small companies as a reliable solutions which will work year after year.
Sorry that have to say … but TrueNAS seems unreliable in long term.
Please bring this issue up and fix the networking.
We like TrueNAS and want to use it. :slightly_smiling_face:
