Can't boot into Windows VM

I was able to install Windows 10 into my TrueNAS scale server. I was able to access the installed Windows on the default display during the installation. Things looked quite nominal as I’m familiar with KVM on Linux. I can’t get the Windows to reboot after the installation. I’m new to TrueNAS (newbie). The error suggests something is wrong with display

I don’t understand why? I believe the vm is not able to boot up from the disk. I’m at a lost. I reorded the booting devices to boot from the disk (1000). I think the disk is causing the vm from booting up. How do I begin to troubleshoot this error?

Its got nothing to do with your display.

In this context, “monitor” is proibably virtual machine monitor, is the thing monitoring the virtual machine.

The actual error is at the end,

It appears that you are using the “file” driver, and its pointing at “/mnt” which is a directory :-\

You’d normally be using a block device driver, pointing at a zvol.

Thank you for your respond. I’ve actually reinstalled Win10 on the TrueNAS (several times since the post). I realized the VM has to boot from the CDROM device in order to run. Coming from Linux KVM (rocky linux), I normally configure the VM to boot from the disk after the installation. When I did that on the TrueNAS, the VM stopped to boot up. Is there a boot order control in TrueNAS? What does device order used for?

One more question (off topic)…
Is it possible to migrate qcow2 image to TrueNAS?

delete the cd rom device

you can convert a qcow2 image and write it to a zvol in one command using the qemu-img command

Thank you for the advice. I’ll try the qemu-img command. The question about the device order, what does it used for?
