I’m trying to upload a SSH key to my NAS so that I can connect with it via SSH. I go to my local user and upload “sshkey.pub” and I get that
I tried with my admin account and built-it admin account, same problem.

The error message seems pretty clear. Do the respective users’ home directories exist? Are they writable by the users in question?
None my users have a /home directory. Only one account has and it’s admin. My home directory is /var/empty and there is nothing in it.
Since the home directory is where the SSH keys are stored, that’s going to be a problem.
If it requires a $HOME
directory for the user to store an SSH key…
…and the user currently does not have a $HOME
directory…
…and that is a problem…
…then the solution might be…
…nope. I’ve got nothing.
I almost had it. It was materializing in my mind, then suddenly everything went blank. If I hit an epiphany later, I’ll try to reply in here ASAP.
